When it comes to style there are some hard and fast rules. Unfortunately, most people are unaware and waste time and money getting some fashion don’ts. When it comes to winter, most people think you have to wear a sad and drab coat but guess what winter can be just as bright and cheerful as the Spring. In fact, it should be.
If your closet is looking a bit depressed, add some gorgeous colours and fabrics that will make you excited for the cold days ahead. In this article, I will be giving you THE dos and don’ts of winter fashion.
Let’s get started.
DO Get Some Chic Faux Fur
Faux fur is a definite do this winter. A faux fur coat is so versatile. You can get it in a neutral colour or be cold with bright cheerful colours. Here are a few ways you can wear a faux fur coat to look great and stay nice and cosy this winter.
Night on the Town - Of course faux fur is a great look for a night out but not any coat will do. Pair a faux fur leopard coat with a pair of high waist faux leather trousers and cute little top for the perfect look at the club.
Dinner and Drinks - if you are going to a nice restaurant glam it up with a cute skirt, some sparkly heels, and bright faux fur bubble Gilet. Perfect for a holiday party choose a bright red one for festive cheer.
DON’T mix and match too many animal patterns as your look can go sour fast. If you like to have some fun with pattern keep it fun with a patterned coat and a touch in a handbag or shoe.
DO Dress to Impress
2020 sure saw enough disaster for a lifetime so avoid it in your wardrobe. Fitted is everything this upcoming year as is bright colours and bold patterns. Choose pieces that say confident, inspired, and most importantly represent your personality best.
- Different Textures - fur, pleather, sequins are all on-trend now. As are fun prints, florals, and patterns
- Shape - this season think interesting shapes like pillowed or long bell sleeves or geometric interest that create an inspired shape
- Movement - Tassels, fringe, and everything that adds more shimmy and movement is very in right now.
DON’T do sloppy thrown together. This year is all about abundance and joy.
DO Wear Multi-Functional Pieces
Layers are always a great idea. This year consider what you want to do in a day and how to turn a long workday outfit into a fun evening look. Same with a morning at the gym to a sumptuous brunch with the girls.
Buying great pieces that can work for you throughout the day is helpful and chic. A shaggy faux fur coat in black can be thrown on for a chic night out over your work pantsuit. While adding a silk leopard skirt over your sporty unitard will give you a gorgeous look after your workout.
DON’T drive yourself crazy with multiple dress changes and overstuffed wardrobes.
Last but not least…
DO Relax in Something Cute
Self-care became a highlight this last year as it should be. So when it comes to your loungewear don’t be afraid to still look cute and cosy. If you are having a lazy morning in with your special someone cable knit crop top and shorts are sexy and fun.
Doing breakfast with mum? Get cosy velvet loungewear sets for you and her, a delicious spread of yummy food and of course don’t forget a nice big pot of tea.
