When you think of a horse what are the words that come to your mind, there is speed, strength, tall, regal, handsome and more. The perception of horses in our heads is filled with extreme endurance and strength, we immediately imagine them roaming around or rather running and hopping hurdles, winning races and being unimaginably majestic. Now, for a horse to deliver along the lines of these expectations is not easy, they undergo rigorous training and are given protein supplements for horses and a proper diet that would be tailored according to their activities and needs.
Stable:
First and foremost, they need a stable that is stable enough to hold them, spacious enough for them to move around and have a calm and grounded ambiance. They should be checked upon at least twice a day and made sure that their feed is given on time and in necessary amounts. There should be enough space for the horses to graze around and it is of utmost importance to make sure that the grass and plants they graze on are not of poisonous origin. Also, hydration for horses is as important as it is for us humans, so make sure there is fresh water available at all times.
Groom:
Horses need our petting and love too like any other animal and it is significant that enough time and energy is allotted for grooming them. Grooming horses is an art in itself and it can be done by people who are trained in it. Where the different brushes should be used in which parts of their body, where do they like being groomed most and the right direction of using the brushes etc, these are some of the many factors that are to be taken into consideration while grooming the horses.
Feed:
Feeding your horses will depend on its size, weight and workload, it is important to feed them the best quality foods and it is always ensured a balanced diet as well. Protein supplements for horses is an important addition to the feed to give their agility and performance, there are a variety of products available in the market, there are soybean meal, linseed meal, corn gluten, cottonseed meal etc that are commonly used for the horses. The key amino acid that is given the limelight is lysine. The most predominantly used one is soybean meal, they are not the favourites of the horses still they are the ones that are most commonly used. Their feed, quality and training have the capacity to make a break the horse especially if it is a race horse, so make sure that you prioritise these completely.
Medical aid:
Animals are fragile creatures as they lack the capability to tell us when they are in pain. So, first aid and medical care for them should be constantly done so you know that your horse is healthy and in full capacity to perform or otherwise. Generally, temperature, pulse, respiration, eyes, nostrils, checking for lumps and bumps, listening to the gut, these are some of the major things that are constantly checked for the horses. Also, tending to their injuries, vaccinations, deworming, their back strength are few other factors to be constantly checked for.
Treat your horses right, love them, feed them , groom them and most importantly take care of them as they are your own.
